The 2015 – 2016 athletics season thus far for JSerra Catholic High School has proved to be a memorable one, and JSerra’s Boys Soccer Program will not upset that streak. This year, JSerra’s Boys Soccer has recently started its preseason camp for players to prepare and remain fit for the season. The camp, held three times a week, is filled with drills, conditioning, and scrimmages that will prepare the players for the upcoming season beginning in December.
The coaching staff is also very impressive this year including Oliver Wyss, Sean Novak, Bryan Phillips, and Rich Williams. They have decades of professional experience in playing soccer, coaching soccer, fitness development, and team building. This year specifically, there has been a large rise in the amount of new players because of the incoming freshman, transfer, and international players. Many of these new students add particular talent in areas that the program has lacked in previous years.
This year there are many more freshman and sophomore players than junior and senior players meaning that JSerra will dominate other teams tactically and strategically rather than physically. In order to do this, in both the preseason camp and during the season practices, quality of work and the technique will be strongly emphasized. Complementary to the technique, JSerra’s players will be the fittest of the league due to their focus and determination to their diet and exercise on and off the field.
